REDala is the artistic identity of Rafaella Elizah Dala, a Filipino visual artist whose journey in art began at an early age and continues to evolve through persistence, experimentation, and purpose.

Her story as an artist began when she was just 11 years old, as she joined group exhibitions and discovered that art was more than a hobby — it was a language she could use to express emotion, identity, and imagination. From a young age, she was drawn to creating works that invite viewers to feel deeply, reflect, and search for meaning beyond the surface.

Over the years, REDala developed into a multifaceted artist, exploring a wide range of mediums including oil, acrylic, spray paint, charcoal, resin, acrylic sheets, plexiglass, and wire sculpture. Her artistic practice is not limited to a single form; instead, it grows through experimentation and a desire to push ideas into different materials and dimensions. Whether through painting or sculptural work, she creates pieces rooted in emotion, womanhood, Filipino identity, memory, and thought-provoking symbolism.

What makes REDala’s journey especially meaningful is not only the number of works she has created but the consistency of her commitment to growth. Since childhood, she has participated in more than 60 exhibitions, steadily building her voice as a young artist. In 2022, she reached a major milestone by mounting her solo exhibition, The Prodigy’s Journey — a body of work that reflected both her artistic development and her personal story.

Her journey, however, extends beyond exhibitions. REDala is also a dreamer who pursued art on an international level. Coming from the Philippines, she held onto the vision of studying fine arts abroad. The road was not easy — she faced repeated setbacks and had to apply for her student visa four times before finally receiving approval. That chapter of her life became one of the strongest foundations of her artistic identity: a story of resilience, discipline, and faith in one’s calling.

Today, REDala is a BA Painting student at RUFA – Rome University of Fine Arts, where she continues to expand her artistic language, technical skill, and conceptual depth. Studying in Rome has opened her to new perspectives, new forms of visual dialogue, and a broader understanding of contemporary art practice, while still keeping her roots and personal story at the center of her work.

Beyond creating art for herself, REDala also hopes to become a source of inspiration for young artists and children who dream of pursuing art. Her journey reflects not only artistic ambition but also advocacy: to show that dreams can be pursued despite obstacles and that art can become both a personal calling and a path that inspires others.

For REDala, being an artist is not simply about producing beautiful work. It is about telling stories, preserving emotion, honoring identity, and proving that persistence can transform a childhood dream into a life in art.
